what’s inside the finasteride, and how does it work?

Finasteride is a clinically-approved medication for the treatment of hair loss in men. Also sold under the brand name Propecia®, Finasteride belongs to a class of medications known as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors

Finasteride works by counteracting the enzyme that is responsible for converting testosterone to DHT, a male hormone which is responsible for causing hair loss. Clinical studies found that men with androgenetic alopecia (a.k.a. male pattern baldness) who used the medication saw a significant increase in total hair counts, a decrease in hair loss and were pleased with their hair growth.

Finasteride is supplied as a convenient once-daily oral tablet, each of which contains 1mg of the active ingredient. Many years of clinical research into the efficacy of Finasteride have focused on 1mg as the optimal dosage for the treatment of male pattern hair loss.

The full list of active and inactive ingredients contained within each tablet is as follows:

Active ingredient: 1mg Finasteride
